CASE STUDY

Industry: Real Estate
Client: The Presidio Trust
Service Offering: Needs Assessment

For the Presidio Trust, IES performed a Needs Assessment of operations to improve controls and increase efficiency surrounding Financial Management. The Presido Trust is a Federal Government Corporation responsible for the management and the oversight of The Presido. They are in effect a full-cycle real estate management company, responsible for construction, leasing, maintence, telecommunications and utilities functions.

Within this effort, interviews with Presidio staff were conducted to identify the current operational environment and document as-is process models. These models were used in facilitated focus sessions to confirm bottlenecks, weaknesses and inefficiencies and laid the groundwork to identify areas for improvement. IES' charter in this initiative was to identify the process weaknesses, outline the opportunities for improvement and provide actionable recommendations for the Trust to addresses the known weaknesses.

Technology and Tool Evaluation
The Presidio Trust has embarked upon the upgrading of its operational systems to support the core business processes of the enterprise. After performing a Needs Assessment of operations to improve controls and increase efficiency surrounding Financial Management. IES was engaged by The Presidio Trust to select the core financial system, job cost and property management package.

IES performed a package selection of a financial management system (financial management systems include a general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and a budgeting module), construction job cost system to support construction accounting, and a property management system to support real estate operations.
IES developed an enterprise design and integration strategy to identify an approach for integrating each of the Trust’s core application systems. This included assessing the underlying technology of each package selected, identifying integration capabilities of each package, specifying the key integration points based upon the Trust’s operation, and documenting the specific integration approaches that these systems will employ.
