Request Workflow
For Diginet Americas,
a telecommunications company doing business
in Latin America, IES worked as workflow developer
and consultant. Diginet is using workflow to
facilitate the business-to-business operations
between Diginet and telecom equipment suppliers
Lucent Technologies and Ericson Corporation.
Diginet has incorporated applications to support
supplier chain integration within their enterprise
that established the business rules for routing
purchase requests between three entities: Supplier,
Diginet Technician, and Diginet Procurement.
These roles varied by country. Each country
established its own "company" and
operated somewhat autonomously.
The scope of
work included completing Purchase Order Request
and Change Order Request applications for both
key suppliers. Both applications interface with
Active Server Pages and ODBC connections to
SQL Server tables.
IES developed, unit tested, and implemented
the web-based Metro workflow application to
incorporate an application that would facilitate
supply chain management. Based on an Windows
NT platform, the application was integrated
with JD Edwards financial management system.
The benefits
of this application include: 1) providing control
over the process to be executed uniformly among
the countries; and 2) providing a clear audit
trail regarding the interaction between the
supplier and Diginet. The relationships established
were new, so there was no before or after process
to compare to determine a specific cost savings.
It is expected, however, that hundreds of millions
will pass through this application.
