IES Project Spotlight: UTRGV School of Medicine
UTHSC SOUTH TEXAS MEDICAL ACADEMIC BUILDING, THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY
IES is proud to announce our latest project for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley: Phase I of the UTRGV School of Medicine. IES led both structural and civil engineering for the Medical Academic Building and Auditorium comprising a combined 88,000 total square feet and designed to serve the students, faculty and staff of the new medical school. These structures are the very first designed and constructed after The University of Texas System Board of Regents unanimously approved the establishment of a doctor of medicine degree at UTRGV. The new structures boast an auditorium, a digital library, a state-of-the-art clinical skills center, a special anatomy teaching facility, and several pre-clinical laboratories. The new medical academic buildings will make extensive use of online and distance learning as part of a region-wide medical school that interacts with existing facilities in Brownsville and Harlingen. IES is fortunate to be part of such a historic and transformative milestone for higher education and the field of medicine in the Rio Grande Valley and we are happy to see that it has already earned high praises from students, faculty, staff and South Texas residents.
